The Brown Administration released on Thursday proposed budget related language – referred to as budget “trailer bill” language – to implement the proposed 7% across-the-board reduction in service hours for all In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) recipients that is meant to be a permanent on-going cut.

The proposed language is nearly identical to the existing State law implementing the current 3.6% across-the-board IHSS recipient hours reduction that is set to expire June 30, 2012, with the exception that the 7% proposed cut is meant to be permanent.  The issue is on the agenda for the May 22nd Senate Budget Subcommittee #3 on Health and Human Services hearing, along with developmental services and CalWORKs (see below for details).
