Ron Paul Backers Continue to Dominate Iowa’s National Delegate Slate

Ron Paul’s well-organized supporters once again dominated Iowa’s national delegate selections. GOP delegates from the state’s four congressional districts convened Friday night to choose 12 national delegates, with three representing each district. 11 of the 12 were either declared Paul supporters or are tied to them.

The At-Large Delegate slate, chosen in early May by the Nominating Commission, included 10 Paul backers out of a total of 13. That slate will be voted on Saturday at the GOP State Convention.

Here are national delegates who were elected Friday night:

1st District

Kelly Schoen (member of “Veterans for Ron Paul” coalition)

Brent Oleson (publicly endorsed Ron Paul)

Jeff Luecke (publicly endorsed Ron Paul)

2nd District

Ani DeGroot (Ron Paul campaign staffer)

Bob Anderson (Johnson County GOP chair; stayed publicly neutral, the only delegate not on the slate passed out by Paul supporters at the convention)

Ed Kelenyi (says he was publicly neutral; is a Jefferson County central committee member, where Ron Paul took 48.6% of the vote on caucus night, his name was on the slate passed out by Paul supporters)

3rd District

Gopal Krishna (His name was on the slate of preferred candidates passed out by Paul supporters at the convention)

Nancy Bowery (county coordinator for Campaign for Liberty)

Glen Massie (State Representative; publicly endorsed Paul)

4th District

Dusty Juhl (interim state chairman of Campaign for Liberty)

Brian Kraft (Ron Paul supporter)

Jeff Taylor (Ron Paul supporter)
