Change Isn’t Always Progressive

I have just been accused of being a “progressive.” Please wait while I laugh. How out of touch someone could be to accuse me, or the ACO blog, of being “progressive!” I think, at one time I was considered an ultra liberal but, as I matured and evolved along with the world surrounding me, I became a bit more of a rational thinker. Oh yeah, that Philosophy degree helped the “thinking” thing a bit.

Surrogate Court Forum Over At The APL

Tonight I’m joining the NAACP and moderator, Greg Owens, Director of Special Projects for OCFS. That intro was a lot shorter than his actual introduction but you get the pic…and touchy feely type…I always cringe when the moderator gets to the podium and says “hello” and then refuses to proceed until the audience answers back.

Judge Atkins (hope I got that spelling right) was first up and

Judge Kaye: Mums The Word On Surrogate Judge Qualification

I always listen to Talk1300 in the morning cause it gets my blood boiling…this morning is no different except that I had to switch back from 810AM because the annoying 1300 static had driven me away. Lucky me…Googly, Carol DeMare from the TU, is showing her brilliance…topic…Albany County Surrogate Court race. Wow…how could she beat me to the news on this race…she stumbles when asked

District Attorney Criticized

I must admit to being a fan of David Soares but lately I’m not getting that warm and fuzzy. While I have written of a great many concerns regarding the local “power of the press,” I’m afraid it’s enhanced with the Soares situation. Before you say it, I will. I fully admit to being opinionated. It pains me to write things about people I have admired but sometimes it must be done.

When I wrote

Irish Rowers and Smithwicks

You know I always try to publish an interesting post on Sunday afternoon so you’ll have an interesting read on Monday morning and I won’t need to produce another post until that evening’s report from the Common Council but this week is different. There is a three day weekend so guess you’ll have to wait one more day until you get the post I’ll write this afternoon.

While you’re waiting, send

Anton Tops Anton

Okay, Okay…my frustrations with the mumblings in the caucus room have been acknowledged and, hopefully, they will be addressed. Ahhhh…the concerns of the citizens participating in government. So, after last night’s planning meeting, I learned what was actually being said at Wednesday night’s caucus and at the committee table.

First, and most importantly, Monday night’s Common Council

To bat is Kevin O’Connor, chair of the Parking Authority. He tells the committee that the city of Albany has 1000 vacant parking spaces and just lost 160 parking spaces with the closure of Keirnan plaza. This may be soon be available for residential

Shredding and Recycling…Albany Style

Remember back in July when I reported that 5 DGS employees were released for disciplinary reasons? I was unable to get in touch with da boyz over in DGS but they later verified that, indeed, a tub grinder was destroyed when some workers had overloaded the tub (which makes compost) in “retaliation” for some issues. Bad employees…bad strategy guys. So, I was corrected, there were two employees
